Changing Auto-Toots to not be Mandatory!
Everyone - We had a great first day at ZoomSafer - thanks to everyone for your participation and feedback. Based on your feedback, later today we'll be removing the requirement to send "Start Driving" and "Stop Driving" Auto-toot Notifications. We'll send out another announcement when it's done, then you can go to myzoomsafer.com and change your profile if you no longer want to send these notifications.

I'm not waiting... I've uninstalled the application. I was leery when I was MANDATED to enter e-mail addresses for the phone numbers (people) I wanted to be allowed to call me while driving. But at NO TIME was I notified that ALL of those people would be automatically by default be sent notifications (toots) each and every time I drove or selected passenger (just so I could use my phone). I realize this was a beta program (I've beta tested numerous applications in the past) but this invasion of my privacy not to mention the invasion of the privacy of my contacts is unacceptable.
I MIGHT come back when the product is more refined... but probably not. This application should be marketed more of a phone chaperon that an application to help ME drive safer... it's more designed and acts like a chaperon for kids than for adults. -

I’m
thankful we could make a change for the better
Hey Steve - We're really sorry about not getting your expectations set about the user experience. I'm about to write a post saying that the change has been implemented on myzoomsafer.com - you can log in, uncheck all notifications and will no longer send out any start/stop driving notifications.
In terms of what you're looking for as a product, I hope you continue to give it a shot. We're trying to develop products for you as well as parents who want to help their children make better choices and had to decide how to slot features into the Beta test. It's unfortunate but we made a bad choice in slotting this feature into the initial test. If you have time, take a look at this post on our website describing what's going to be available in Phase 2 of the Beta - http://www.zoomsafer.com/news-events/....
On a personal note, my kids are very young and I think I might be more like you in that I've already turned off my notifications and am really looking forward to when we integrate the Voice Safety Portal into the app.
So I hope you turn off the notifications, give the rest of the app another try, and come back for Phase 2 when we have it online.
Thanks again for your time and your feedback,
Mike -

I understand. You can let me know when phase 2 is ready and I will look at your product again. I'm just not really in the mood to give it a fair shot at another look again right now. Thanks for the quick reply.

I’m
mindful of steve's feedback and determined to fix the issues ASAP
Steve:
I am truly sorry -- and i sincerely hope that you will give us another shot in the near future. Indeed, no beta is perfect -- but that's not an excuse. The fact is that we totally got it wrong with the mandatory auto toots -- and we're moving quickly to have it modified as of tonight.
We're 100% listening to your feedback -- and we're dedicated to getting it right for all users spread horizontally across segments -- from teens to adults -- from consumers to corporations.
The policy/service change that we implement tonight will make auto-toots purely optional and will only alert others in the event that they actually try to communicate with you while you're driving. -

Just wanted to say for a BETA your program is still one of the top 10 apps i have used and just wanted to say again that i can prob speak for many that your company is the fastest responding company ever. you could email company X for an example and it would take them 3 days to get back to you. just wanted to say that many should know going into a app thats in BETA form should know its always going to have bugs. no one in this world is perfect.

I did a workaround for the auto-toots issue to avoid the constant emails, and was happy when I could uncheck the email / text option. Yay....
I'm good. -
